Beat the dealer by having a hand value closer to 21 than the dealer’s hand, without going over 21.
Number cards = face value.
Face cards (J, Q, K) = 10.
Ace = 1 or 11, whichever benefits the hand most.
Played with one or more standard decks (casinos usually use 6–8 decks in a shoe).
Players place bets before any cards are dealt.
Each player gets two cards face-up.
Dealer gets one card face up.
After seeing their two cards and the dealer’s upcard, each player may:
Hit: take another card.
Stand: keep their total.
Double down: double the bet, take exactly one more card, then stand.
Split: if first two cards are the same rank, split them into two separate hands, placing an extra bet equal to the original.
Once all players act, the dealer deals cards to their hand until reaching at least 17.
If you bust (over 21) → automatic loss.
If the dealer busts and you don’t → you win.
If neither busts, the higher total wins.
If totals tie → “push” (your bet is returned).
Blackjack (Ace + 10-value card on the first two cards) pays 3:2.
Regular win pays 1:1.
