Blinds are forced bets posted before the cards are dealt (usually a small blind and a big blind) that start the action and ensure there’s money in the pot each hand.
The small blind is usually half the big blind, rounded down if the big blind is an odd number.
Manilla has only one blind but if two are offered the player posting the blind can choose which one to play, which dictates the action for the hand.
Straddles are a voluntary blind bet made by the player under the gun (left of the big blind), double the size of the big blind and giving them the last action preflop. They do not count as a raise for the purpose of capping the betting.
Antes are small forced bets that every player posts before a hand begins, seeding the pot and encouraging action.
The bring-in is a compulsory bet in stud games, posted by the player with the lowest up-card dealt. They can either bet the bring-in or complete the bet to the structure. If they just post the bring-in, the next player can call or raise and make the first of 4 possible bets on top of the bring-in, making the structure slightly higher for this round.
